Welcome Swag

Greet your guests in Island style.

Your friends and family have traveled near and far to celebrate your special day. What better way to say “Welcome to the Island!” and "Thanks for coming!" than a curated selection of local goodies.

The ideal wedding welcome bag includes a mix of essentials and fun, personalized objects, said Susan Ciatto, owner of Tisbury Turkey, a business that puts together all sorts of gifts for any occasion. You want to “include essentials like a map of the area, an itinerary of events, and some snacks. But getting creative with your gifting can make a big impact. Local spirits or cold beer waiting in their hotel room at check-in provides a festive touch.”

Island-made chocolate, honey, jam, baked goods, coffee, and even salt are all readily available, and are a good way to give your guests an immediate taste of the Vineyard. Want something less perishable? Try Island post cards, stickers, or bath and body products, such as soap, lotions, or candles. Including items that are unique to your wedding doesn’t hurt, either. If you’re saying your “I do’s” on the beach, for instance, include a pair of fun sunglasses. Out in the backyard? Bug spray always helps.

“Whether you design an extravagant series of gifts or select a simple token,” said Ciatto, “showing your guests that you appreciate the time and effort they have spent to attend your event will make a lasting impression.”
