Brian Devaney of New Bedford and Paula Devaney of Edgartown are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Brittany Devaney, to Matthew Lawson. Mr. Lawson is the son of Matt and Michelle Hylton, both of Richmond, VA. A Vineyard wedding is planned for September 21, 2013.
Islander Corinna McCurdy Marries Joshua Liebowitz
Corinna McCurdy and Joshua Liebowitz were married Sept. 10, 2011, on a bright, sunny afternoon overlooking the lagoon in Vineyard Haven at the home of the bride’s maternal grandmother, Pamela Cassel. Corinna is the daughter of Tom and Jennifer McCurdy of Vineyard Haven. She is a graduate of the Martha’s Vineyard Public Charter School, Boston University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and an attorney with Latham & Watkins in Menlo Park, Calif. Josh is the son of Richard Liebowitz of New York City, and Elizabeth Simoneau of Tucson, Ariz. Josh is a graduate of Boston University and a software engineer with Apple, Inc. in Cupertino, Calif. The couple honeymooned in Spain, Italy and Scotland before returning home to Los Altos, Calif.
Ernest K. and Susan W. Jacquet
Susan Wordell Lutes and Ernest K. Jacquet of Newport, Rhode Island; Edgartown; and Singer Island, Florida, were married on Saturday, November 12, 2011, at the New York Yacht Club in Newport. Michael K. Kelleher officiated over an intimate gathering of family at Station Ten. A private luncheon followed in Harbour Court’s library.
The bride is a licensed realtor with Lila Delman Real Estate in Newport, a property manager, and an avid sailor. Susan’s daughter and maid of honor, Emmelia, a junior at Northeastern University, and her son, Nick, a senior at North Kingstown High School, along with her parents, Lois (Duckworth) and David Hazard Wordell, were in attendance.
The bride is a life member of the Roger Williams Family Association and a direct descendant of the founder of the state of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations.
The groom is a managing partner at Mentor Capital, LLC and chairman of Passport Brands. He is an avid sailor and races his America’s Cup winner Freedom (US-30). He serves on the board of the International Yacht Restoration School and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Jacquet is CEO and executive producer of America United, a non-profit organization supporting US military families. He is a life member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas.
The groom, dressed in his family kilt (Campbells of Argyll), was attended by his son, Alexandre, as best man.
The couple honeymooned at the Breakers in Palm Beach.
